The Immortal Tree
"The Immortal Tree" is the story of a young boy and girl during their summer together in small-town Georgia. The young boy, spending the summer with his grandparents, builds a close relationship with Maggie, a girl about his age who lives in the same town.
This friendship quickly blooms into a young romance, as the boy shares some special moments with Maggie, but there is a darkness under the surface that he doesn't see.
Dealing with different family ties, young romance, and the fleeting beauty of a little girl's life, "The Immortal Tree" manages to touch so many of the nuances of Southern life in the summer, painting a tragic and beautiful picture of what it means to be immortal.

After his grandfather's death, the young man seeks to find a new preacher to carry on his grandfather's esteemed church and is blessed with the sudden appearance of out-of-towner, Ichabod Beels. Things go well at first, but Young Jacobs soon learns that Ichabod Beels is not the man he had hoped for. Unfortunately, it may be far too late for this young man to right his wrong.
This original short-story explores a young man's innate desire to defend his family legacy while working to create his own. How far will he go to make this happen, and will it be too far for him to come back? When an error in judgement brings a young man toe-to-toe with the Devil, how can he find a way out?
